"Fueki Togenkyo," located in Ichinomiya Town, Fueki City, is an iconic landscape representing the area's status as Japan's leading peach producer. In early April, the peach blossoms bloom across the alluvial fan on the opposite side of the Fueki River, creating a breathtaking view that looks like a soft pink carpet spread across the land. This area is widely known as "Togenkyo" (Peach Blossom Paradise) and is one of the most famous scenic spots in Yamanashi Prefecture. The gentle slopes of Ichinomiya are lined with peach orchards, set against the majestic backdrop of Mount Fuji and the Southern Alps.
Fueki City has long been celebrated for its fruit cultivation, particularly its world-class peach production. The topography of the Ichinomiya area, characterized by its alluvial fan, provides the rich water and soil-quality ideal for high-quality peach cultivation. This culture of peach farming is a vital part of the local industry, attracting visitors every year. During the blooming season, visitors can witness a unique cultural landscape where nature and traditional agriculture exist in perfect harmony.
The greatest charm of the Ichinomiya peach blossoms is the sheer scale of the pink landscape. From early to mid-April, the sight of the orchards turning pink is truly overwhelming. Additionally, because rapeseed flowers bloom simultaneously, you can enjoy the striking color contrast between the pink blossoms and the bright yellow flowers. For the best views, visitors can head to elevated spots like the "Hanamidai" viewing platform or near the Shakado Ruins Museum, where you can see the peach blossoms in the foreground with the grand peaks of Mount Fuji and the Southern Alps in the distance.
The peak season for peach blossoms is typically from early to mid-April. We strongly recommend planning your visit during this window. For the best experience, visit during the daytime when the sunlight clearly highlights the contrast between the pink peach blossoms, the yellow rapeseed flowers, and the bright blue sky. On clear days, you may even catch a glimpse of the snow remaining on the Southern Alps or the majestic silhouette of Mount Fuji.
The primary way to enjoy this area is through leisurely strolls or scenic drives to admire the vast orchards. Driving through the local roads offers a wonderful way to see the landscape from different angles. You can also enjoy the scenery from various viewpoints and nearby facilities. The area also features local hot spring (onsen) facilities, allowing you to relax and soak in the local culture after enjoying the spring scenery.
There are several useful spots around the Ichinomiya peach blossom area. For instance, near the Momonotsato Onsen, you can enjoy views of the peach orchards, and the Shakado Ruins Museum offers an elevated vantage point. The area is also easily accessible via the Ichinomiya-Misaka Interchange on the Chuo Expressway, making it an excellent driving destination. It is also close to the Isawa Onsen and Katsunuma areas, allowing you to combine a visit with local wine tasting or hot spring stays.
We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, as you may navigate gentle slopes or elevated viewing areas.
While many nearby facilities and parking lots accept credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, etc.), some small-scale roadside shops or local parking areas may only accept cash. It is wise to carry some Japanese Yen.
Basic English signage is available at major tourist spots and on main roads, but for more detailed services, you may need to use translation tools or basic Japanese.
While no reservation is required to view the scenery, the peak season is extremely busy. If you plan to stay at a nearby hotel or dine at a local restaurant, we highly recommend booking in advance.
The orchards are active farmland managed with great care by local farmers. Please do not enter restricted areas or touch the plants/flowers. Additionally, please ensure you take all your trash with you to preserve the natural beauty of the area.
