Hoshino Resorts Nekoma Mountain (formerly known as Arai Bandai and Nekoma Ski Resorts) is a massive resort spanning the north and south of Mt. Nekoma. By connecting the Arai Bandai and Nekoma areas, it provides an environment suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to professional riders. One of its most significant features is its exceptionally long season, running from early December to early May, allowing guests to enjoy mountain activities well into the spring.
This area evolved into a large-scale resort through the integration and connection of the former Arai Bandai and Nekoma Ski Resorts. Located within the rich natural environment of Fukushima Prefecture, it has a long history of supporting the local ski culture. Currently managed by Hoshino Resorts, the destination offers more than just skiing; it proposes new ways to enjoy winter sports through seasonal special experiences and plans that embrace a charming, nostalgic atmosphere.
The greatest highlight is the extensive variety of snow parks designed for different skill levels. You can progress through the 'Step-up Park SOUTH' for beginners, or challenge yourself at the 'Step-up Park NORTH' which features items for intermediate and advanced riders. For those seeking world-class thrills, the 'Global Park' hosts kickers used in international competitions. Additionally, the ability to enjoy tree runs amidst beautiful snowy landscapes and seasonal special park experiences are unique charms of this resort.
The peak season is from December to March, when the snow quality is most stable and winter sports are at their height. The period when large-scale kickers are available and the time to enjoy spring skiing are particularly special for skiers and snowboarders. Please note that operating hours for parks and course availability can change based on the season and weather. For example, after late March, operating hours may be shortened, so it is highly recommended to check the latest information before your visit.
Beyond just downhill skiing, a variety of activities are available. You can enjoy park riding in the snow parks, tree runs through the forest, and gourmet experiences at on-site cafes like 'The Rider's' and 'yama cafe.' Basic equipment such as ski/snowboard wear, gloves, goggles, and a helmet is essential. Specifically, wearing a helmet is mandatory in certain areas, such as the snow parks. For payments, while credit cards are often used, please consider having cash ready as a 500 JPY deposit may be required for lift passes or IC cards. When using the snow parks, you may be required to sign a waiver. As a matter of etiquette, riding outside designated areas or engaging in unsafe behavior is strictly prohibited.
