Mount Horumi Pass is a scenic pass located in Maruyama Nishi-machi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido. Situated on a terrain that provides a commanding view of central Sapporo, it has been officially recognized as a Japan Night View Heritage site and one of the New Three Major Night Views of Japan. Near the summit, you will find Yume Kobo Sato, which operates a beautiful lavender garden. A unique feature of this location is the existence of a dedicated parking lot specifically designed for viewing the night scenery, making it a highly convenient spot for visitors.
The location was named by Prince Fushimi Hiroyoshi, who appreciated the view overlooking the center of Sapporo. A geodetic survey point of the same name exists in the vicinity. Today, the area serves as a major cultural and tourism hub for both night view appreciation and seasonal flower viewing, particularly the lavender gardens.

The most striking feature is the urban landscape that unfolds at night. From this high vantage point, you can witness the entire city being enveloped in a diverse tapestry of colorful lights. Additionally, the lavender garden, cultivated along the natural slopes, offers a breathtaking fusion of urban lights and natural flora. The well-maintained dedicated parking lot ensures a comfortable environment for viewing the scenery directly from your vehicle.
In terms of seasonality, the landscape is particularly stunning during the lavender blooming season (roughly from May to August), when the slopes turn a vibrant purple. For the best experience, it is highly recommended to visit after sunset. During the night, the city lights become exceptionally vivid, creating a scene that looks like a scattering of precious jewels across the dark landscape.

Visitors can enjoy breathtaking night views from both the vehicle windows and designated observation spaces. The lavender garden offers a unique way to experience the scenery through the changing elevations of the terrain. Whether you prefer a quiet moment in nature or a scenic drive to see the lights, this location offers a versatile way to enjoy the view.
Located in Maruyama Nishi-machi, Chuo-ku, the pass is easily accessible from the central Sapporo area. The surrounding Maruyama area is known for its beautiful geographical features and proximity to the city center.
