The Historical Village of Hokkaido is a vast open-air museum located within the Nopporo Forest Park in Atsubetsu Ward, Sapporo. Spanning 54.2 hectares, this facility features buildings relocated and restored from various parts of Hokkaido, dating from the Meiji era to the early Showa era. Its primary mission is to preserve and pass down the lifestyle and culture of the pioneering era. Established in 1983, it is officially designated as a 'Museum-Equivalent Facility.' Visitors can explore 52 historical buildings, learning about the tools, techniques, and the ingenuity of the pioneers who shaped the region.
The museum was established to pass down the history of Hokkaido's development—specifically the Meiji, Taisho, and early Showa eras—to future generations.
