Tokkei Security Hiratsuka General Gymnasium is a versatile multi-purpose sports facility located in the heart of Hiratsuka City, within the Hiratsuka City General Park. This facility plays a vital role as a regional sports hub, frequently hosting professional basketball games from the B.League. Additionally, the West Wing features a certified 50m heated pool by the Japan Swimming Federation, allowing for year-round indoor aquatic activities and training.
The facility was developed as part of the Hiratsuka City General Park, a major urban green space. In 2014, the facility's name was changed to its current form, "Tokkei Security Hiratsuka General Gymnasium," after the local company Tokkei Security Co., Ltd. acquired the naming rights. The venue has a history of hosting significant events, such as the table tennis competitions during the 53rd National Sports Festival (Kanagawa Yume Kokutai), and remains a cornerstone of the local sports culture.
The arena is a stage for professional-level competition. It serves as a home venue for high-level basketball and volleyball matches involving teams such as the Yokohama B-Corsairs, Kawasaki Brave Thunders, Yokohama Exiles, Shonan United BC, and the Fujitsu Red Wave from the women's W-League. Beyond the arena, the West Wing's heated pool offers a professional environment for competitive swimming and personal training.
The facility is open six days a week, from Tuesday to Sunday, between 08:30 and 21:00. It is closed on Mondays. Because most activities are indoors, the facility is ideal for sports and training regardless of the season. During major professional games, visitors can experience the intense energy of pro-athlete performances. The surrounding park also offers a beautiful natural environment, where visitors can enjoy seasonal flowers like cherry blossoms.
Visitors can engage in various indoor sports such as basketball, volleyball, and table tennis. The heated pool is also available for swimming and fitness training. A visit during a professional home game offers the thrilling experience of watching high-level professional sports live. These activities serve both to promote local sports culture and to provide a space to experience the intensity of professional athletics.
Located within the Hiratsuka City General Park, the gymnasium is surrounded by many other sports facilities, including Hiratsuka Baseball Stadium, Shonan BMW Stadium Hiratsuka, tennis courts, and the heated pool. The area is also perfect for family recreation, featuring the "Fureai Zoo," the "Wanpaku Hiroba" playground with wooden equipment, and a traditional Japanese garden where you can enjoy seasonal plant life.
Visitors should bring appropriate attire such as sportswear or swimwear depending on their activity. For indoor sports, bringing dedicated indoor-only shoes is mandatory. Regarding payments, please check the specific facility rules, as many public facilities in Japan primarily accept cash. As this is a public space, please observe general etiquette and respect other users. While English support levels vary, please follow all posted rules and guidelines for facility use.
