Because the waves are exceptionally calm, it is widely known as a safe spot for families with young children to enjoy swimming and playing in the water. Furthermore, its high water quality and environmental excellence have been officially recognized by the Ministry of the Environment as one of the 'Top 100 Select Beaches in Japan.' The area is highly accessible by car, featuring a large parking lot that can accommodate approximately 150 vehicles.

Today, it is developed as a representative beach of the region and serves as a vital recreational hub for Fukuoka, attracting many families and tourists during the summer months. The fact that it is selected for the 'Top 100 Select Beaches' is a testament to how this location has successfully maintained its natural environment while remaining a popular destination for many years.

Due to the calm waters, it is incredibly popular among beginners and families with children. The surrounding area also features various accommodations and dining options, allowing visitors to enjoy local culinary culture alongside their seaside activities. In recent years, the area has also seen an increase in people enjoying surfing, showcasing the diverse ways to enjoy the ocean.
The peak season for swimming is the summer period, specifically from July to August. During this time, facilities such as showers are fully operational, making it the perfect time for daytime swimming. While the beach can be visited in June and September, we recommend checking the availability of facilities in advance. The bright daylight hours are ideal for beach activities and playing in the sand; however, as the sun can be quite strong, most activities typically take place from late morning through the afternoon.
At Hatsu Beach, the primary activity is enjoying the sea. The calm waves make it an excellent location for water play and sandcastle building, which is perfect for children's recreation. Additionally, there are cycling routes in the surrounding area, allowing you to feel the refreshing sea breeze while riding. You can spend a leisurely time enjoying the scenic views while utilizing the convenient parking and onsite facilities.
The surrounding area is well-equipped to meet the needs of tourists. A large parking lot capable of holding about 150 cars is located very close to the beach, making travel by car extremely convenient. Nearby, you will find various accommodations and traditional restaurants where you can enjoy a meal after a day at the sea. Furthermore, the surrounding region includes hot spring facilities and blueberry farms, making it a great destination to include in a driving tour through Fukuoka Prefecture.
When enjoying the beach, please prepare swimwear, a change of clothes, sandals, and sunscreen. While shower facilities are available during the summer, we recommend carrying small change or cash for smooth transactions. Although there are parking lots and public toilets nearby, please be mindful of others and follow local etiquette, such as taking your trash home with you. Photography is freely allowed as long as you enjoy the scenery without disturbing other visitors. Please note that movement on the sandy beach may have some limitations regarding accessibility/barrier-free travel.
