Hasshoku Center is a large-scale market facility located in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, where the region's finest delicacies are gathered in one place. It is more than just a shopping spot; it offers a unique form of food entertainment where you can buy fresh ingredients and enjoy cooking them immediately on-site. Rich in the bounties of the sea from Hachinohe, including fresh seafood, vegetables, and local specialties, it is beloved as a 'culinary theme park' where every visit brings a new discovery.
Hasshoku Center was established to make the rich food culture of Hachinohe more accessible and enjoyable. Based on the traditional food culture of Hachinohe—a long-standing fishing town—the facility blends traditional flavors with modern shopping and dining enjoyment. By handling fresh ingredients delivered directly from local producers, it aims to revitalize the local economy and provide a rich, authentic Japanese food experience.

The greatest attraction is undoubtedly 'Shichirin-mura.' This is an interactive facility where you can use a traditional charcoal brazier (shichirin) to grill the fresh seafood or vegetables you purchased at the market. Additionally, the lively 'Aji Yokocho' features a food court filled with exquisite gourmet dishes made with ingredients delivered straight from the market. Other areas include the 'Market Building' with seasonal ingredients and the 'Cooking Dojo' for culinary experiences, catering to various interests and preferences.
You can enjoy different seasonal delicacies throughout the year. Whether it is the tastes of spring, summer seafood, autumn flavors, or winter specialties, you will encounter the 'perfect dish' depending on when you visit. For the best selection, we recommend visiting the Market Building early in the morning. Some areas also become more energetic toward the evening, allowing you to enjoy the atmosphere throughout the day. Special seasonal events, such as Golden Week programs, are also a major draw.
At Hasshoku Center, you don't just eat; you complete the culinary process yourself. Self-cooking at Shichirin-mura is a uniquely fun activity for travelers. Furthermore, at the 'Cooking Dojo,' you can participate in cooking experiences led by professional chefs. Even beginners can deepen their understanding of Japanese food culture by observing professional techniques. These experiences allow you to learn the handling and cooking tips of local ingredients.
The area around Hasshoku Center serves as a hub for Hachinohe's rich food culture. Nearby, you can find various shops dealing in local products and spots that reflect the history of Hachinohe. The area is also well-connected to hotels and transportation within Hachinohe City, making it a convenient base for your travels. You can even purchase ingredients at the market to enjoy at your hotel or local accommodations.
Major credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard, as well as transportation IC cards, are accepted in the facility. However, since some small shops or specific stalls may only accept cash, we recommend carrying some Japanese Yen.
While there are English signs at information desks and major facilities, detailed English support from staff may be limited. Using a translation app is highly recommended for smoother communication.
Reservations are generally not required for the Market Building or Aji Yokocho. However, for experience-based programs like the Cooking Dojo or specific events, we recommend checking the official website or booking in advance.
When using Shichirin-mura, please wear comfortable clothing that is not easily stained, as you will be working with fire and smoke. Also, dress appropriately for the season and temperature changes.
Photography is generally permitted, but please respect the privacy of other customers and shop staff. Please follow local instructions in areas where photography may be restricted.
The facility is relatively barrier-free, but some areas or cooking spaces may have steps or narrow passages. Wheelchair users are encouraged to check the routes in advance.
