Hamanako Garden Park is a vast prefectural park spanning 56 hectares, located on a beautiful peninsula jutting into Lake Hamana in Chuo-ku, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Opened in its current form in 2005, the park offers diverse areas for visitors of all ages. It is divided into three main zones: West, Town, and Sato, each providing unique experiences. Known as a "lakeside oasis," it is a perfect spot for walking, picnics, and family leisure amidst rich natural surroundings.
The park has a significant history as the site for the "Hamanako Flower Expo" held in 2004. Many of the facilities and designs from that era remain, and you can still find stone statues of the mascot "Notane" throughout the grounds. The "Flower Museum" in the Sato area also carries historical significance, reflecting the evolution of the park's name and its role in providing beautiful landscapes to the community over the years.
The symbol of the park is the 54m Observation Tower (with a 44m viewing height). From here, you can enjoy a magnificent panorama of Lake Hamana and, on clear days, a breathtaking view of Mount Fuji.
