Hakuba Jump Stadium is a world-class ski jumping facility located in Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture. It features a very rare structure where both a Large Hill and a Normal Hill are positioned side by side. Having served as a venue for the 1998 Nagano Olympics, it remains a historic site that continues to host various sports and natural activities throughout the year. By using the lift or the observation elevator, visitors can ascend to the summit to enjoy a dynamic view of the descent path and a panoramic vista of the majestic Hakuba mountain range.
This stadium gained international attention as the stage for ski jumping and Nordic combined events during the 1998 Nagano Olympics. The facility was designed and constructed with significant time and investment, establishing itself as a symbol of Japan's winter sports culture. The Large Hill is managed by Hakuba Village, while the Normal Hill and other facilities are managed by Nagano Prefecture, playing a vital role in both regional sports promotion and tourism. For many years, it has been utilized as a venue for international ski jumping competitions and as a professional training ground.

The greatest attraction is the overwhelming sense of scale when looking down from the top of the jump. By ascending to the starting point via the observation elevator or lift, you can feel the trajectory of a jump from the same perspective as the athletes. The Large Hill boasts a total length of 385m, while the Normal Hill is 318m, and their massive structures are truly awe-inspiring. The scenery changes dramatically with the seasons: a pristine white world in winter, and lush green landscapes in summer perfect for roller skiing or running. The fusion of high-level sports architecture and the changing natural beauty of Hakuba never fails to captivate visitors.
Winter (late December to March) is the ideal season to enjoy the beautiful snow-covered landscapes of Hakuba and feel the authentic atmosphere of winter sports. Conversely, the 'Green Season' (mid-April to November) is popular for activities such as roller skiing, running, and mountain biking. Regarding the best time to visit, daytime when the sunlight shines brightly is highly recommended. The view is particularly emotional and beautiful during the hours when light overflows from behind the mountains or during the gentle atmosphere of twilight.

General visitors can ascend to the start of the jump via lift or elevator to experience the view from an athlete's perspective. Additionally, the 'Multi-purpose Course' opened in 2015 allows for a wide range of activities depending on the season, including roller skiing, inline skating, running, soccer, and mountain biking. In the winter, activities like cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are also common. The facility's hallmark is providing active experiences that utilize the natural environment of Hakuba beyond simple sightseeing.
Hakuba Village is dotted with numerous other ski resorts and outdoor facilities. Hakuba Jump Stadium is conveniently located near major sightseeing spots like the Happo area, serving as a core hub for sports tourism in Hakuba. The surrounding area is also well-equipped with hot spring (onsen) facilities and restaurants, making it an ideal environment to relax after an active day of sports or outdoor exploration.
Please prepare appropriate clothing and gear according to the season. If visiting in winter, heavy winter wear such as thick jackets, gloves, hats, and non-slip shoes are essential. For the summer or green season, wear comfortable athletic clothing suitable for activities like running or roller skiing. Please ensure you take your trash home with you and follow the instructions of the facility staff. If using the training rooms, please observe proper etiquette, such as cleaning equipment and returning items to their original places.
