Fukidashi Park is located at the foot of Mt. Yotei, one of Hokkaido's most iconic mountains. Rain and snow falling on Mt. Yotei are filtered through the earth over many years, emerging as mineral-rich spring water. This water has been selected as one of the '100 Best Waters' by the Ministry of the Environment, with a staggering daily volume of approximately 80,000 tons. The park features well-maintained walking paths and observation decks, allowing visitors to feel the raw energy of nature up close.
This area has long been known as a 'Village of Famous Water.' Benefiting from the high altitude of Mt. Yotei, the spring water has been a vital resource for the local community, supporting both daily life and local culture. The abundant water supply has also contributed to the development of local agriculture and food culture, making this a place where one can truly feel the historical harmony between nature and human civilization.
The greatest attraction is the powerful, continuous flow of incredibly clear water. There are specific areas where you can observe the water bubbling up from the ground, showcasing the beautiful formations of nature. The park's walking paths allow for a leisurely stroll while enjoying the surrounding scenery. Additionally, from the observation decks, you can gaze upon the majestic silhouette of Mt. Yotei, enjoying the stunning contrast between the crystal-clear water and the grand mountain.
Because the water temperature and volume remain constant throughout the year, Fukidashi Park offers a different charm in every season. From spring to summer, the surrounding greenery becomes vibrant, creating a refreshing atmosphere accompanied by the soothing sound of flowing water. The scenery in the crisp winter air is also exceptional. As the park is open 24 hours a day, you can experience different moods depending on when you visit, such as the quiet stillness of early morning or the peaceful atmosphere of twilight.
Around the park, you can enjoy a food culture deeply connected to this famous water. You can find eateries serving coffee made with the spring water, as well as local dishes and popular items like Genghis Khan (grilled mutton) and croquettes. The park also features playground equipment (available from May until the first snowfall), making it a great destination for families.
Located very close to the park is the 'Michi-no-Eki Meisui Plaza,' where you can enjoy meals made with the local spring water and purchase regional specialties. There are also nearby hot spring (onsen) facilities, making it popular to visit a hot spring to relax while viewing Mt. Yotei. While the walking paths are well-maintained, we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes since you will be exploring a natural environment.
