Fudo Falls is a striking 15-meter waterfall located in the town of Yugawara, Kanagawa Prefecture. Nestled within a lush, verdant environment, the falls offer a profound sense of peace. As you walk along the well-maintained path, the rhythmic sound of falling water creates a meditative atmosphere, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the refreshing negative ions of the forest. The path is designed to bring you close to the base of the falls, providing a breathtaking view of the water's power.
The area surrounding Fudo Falls holds significant spiritual meaning. To the left of the waterfall stands the Migorwari Fudo Son (a deity of protection), and to the right is the Shusse Daikoku Son (deity of success). This makes the site not just a scenic natural landmark, but also a sacred place of prayer. Visitors can experience a sense of solemnity and offer prayers for success in life or protection from misfortune amidst the majestic natural setting.
The primary highlight is the sheer power of the 15-meter drop. As you approach the falls, the volume of the rushing water increases, allowing you to feel the raw energy of nature directly. The journey to the falls is part of the experience itself. Along the path from the bus stop or parking area, you will find traditional tea houses serving local treats like Amazake (sweet fermented rice drink), perfect for a break. Additionally, you can enjoy a soothing foot bath (ashiyu) while gazing at the waterfall, a wonderful way to soothe your legs after a walk through nature.
Fudo Falls is located within the famous Yugawara Onsen area. The surrounding region is rich in hiking trails and scenic landscapes. Visitors are encouraged to explore the nearby hot spring facilities and the natural hiking routes that define the charm of Yugawara.
Since this is a natural environment, comfortable clothing is highly recommended. Because the path can be damp or slippery near the water, we strongly suggest wearing sturdy sneakers or walking shoes.
