Doho Park is a vast, beautiful space located in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, where rich natural beauty seamlessly blends with modern recreational facilities. At the heart of the park lies the stunning 'Doho Pond,' a tranquil body of water surrounded by lush, diverse vegetation. The park's charm lies in its ever-changing seasonal landscapes, making it a popular destination for walking, picnics, sports, and nature observation. The harmony between the calm water surface and the surrounding greenery provides a deeply relaxing atmosphere for all visitors.
Doho Park was developed with the dual purpose of preserving the natural environment and providing a space for community enjoyment. It is currently managed as a municipal park. The name of the park and the presence of Doho Pond are iconic symbols of the local natural heritage. In recent years, the park has become a center for community-driven projects, including collaborations with local residents and NPOs to promote biodiversity and nature observation, embodying a modern approach to preserving and utilizing natural resources.

The centerpiece of the park is the Doho Pond. With a depth of less than 5 meters, it maintains a healthy ecosystem rich in submerged plants. A well-maintained walking path circles the pond, offering perfect vantage points to observe the reflection of trees on the water, seasonal wild birds, and various local wildlife. Depending on the season, visitors can enjoy spectacular sights such as rose festivals in spring, vibrant hydrangeas, and the golden hues of the ginkgo tree avenues in autumn.
The park offers a different face to every season. In spring, enjoy the blooming roses and bird watching; in summer, take a refreshing dip in the pool; in autumn, witness the stunning colors of the ginkgo trees; and in winter, enjoy the quiet, serene beauty of the landscape. The gentle light of spring and autumn is particularly recommended for leisurely strolls and picnics. Please note that certain events, such as plant exploration walks or bird watching sessions, are held at specific times and seasons, so checking the schedule in advance is highly recommended.

Doho Park is ideal for active visitors. It features well-equipped facilities including tennis courts, an indoor swimming pool, a gymnasium, and multi-purpose fields, allowing you to stay active while surrounded by nature. The park also hosts various educational and community-based activities, such as nature observation workshops and local events, providing a unique way to learn about and connect with the local ecosystem.
The area surrounding the park is characterized by the natural beauty of Tsukuba City. Nearby, you can find cultural landmarks like the Tsukuba New City Memorial Museum and various NPO bases that focus on nature observation. The surrounding landscape is dotted with scenic walking paths and facilities that highlight the deep connection between the local community and the natural environment.

As the park is quite large, please come prepared for walking or sports. If you plan to use the tennis courts, non-marking tennis shoes are required. For the swimming pool, please bring your swimwear and necessary accessories. Note that locker fees (100 JPY) are charged for the changing rooms, so it is helpful to carry small change. While most payments for facilities can be made via cash or prepaid cards, please check the specific signage at each facility for the most current information. Please respect the environment by taking your trash home and following local etiquette to protect the natural surroundings.
