Noboribetsu Date Jida Mura is a unique cultural theme park that meticulously recreates the streets and lifestyle of Japan's Edo period. Rather than a simple museum, it is a living entertainment space where you can experience the atmosphere of old Japan through multiple senses.

The 'Nihon Dento Bunka Gekijo' (Japanese Traditional Culture Theater) features the elegant and colorful Oiran show, while the 'Oedo Gekijo' offers comedic period dramas with mascot characters. Outdoors, you can try your hand at throwing shuriken (ninja stars) at the 'Ninja Toride.' Other scenic spots include 'Kuma-san Nagaya,' which recreates commoner dwellings, and the 'Karesansui Hourai-tei' garden, showcasing the beauty of Zen-style landscape design.
Events vary by season. During summer vacations, there are often family-oriented events and discounts on costume rentals. The 'Experience Dojo' allows you to practice with shuriken and archery. For a truly immersive experience, you can rent costumes—such as samurai, ninja, or traditional female attire—at 'Utsuroi-kan' to walk through the village as if you were a resident of the Edo period.
Noboribetsu Date Jida Mura is located near the famous Noboribetsu Onsen area, one of Hokkaido's most renowned hot spring destinations. The hot spring district is only about a 10-minute drive away, making it easy to combine a cultural tour with a relaxing soak. The park is also easily accessible via bus from JR Noboribetsu Station, making it a seamless addition to your Hokkaido travel itinerary.
Since you will be walking around a large outdoor area, we highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. If you plan to use the costume rental service, please factor in time for changing.
