Chikusa-ji is a historic temple located in Ama City, Aichi Prefecture. The history of this land traces back to 1283, when the monk Ippen visited while traveling from Kamakura, establishing traditions such as the Nenbutsu dance that continues to this day. Furthermore, the area is known as the place where the famous Sengoku-period warlord Fukushima Masanori practiced his studies during his childhood; the Nio statues enshrined in the temple are said to have been donated by him. These historical structures and cultural assets have been meticulously preserved and passed down through many generations.
The greatest draw of Chikusa-ji is its architectural splendor.
