Blanche Takayama Ski Resort is a premier ski destination located in Nagawa Town, Nagano Prefecture. The name "Blanche" means "white" in French, reflecting the pristine, high-altitude environment that surrounds the resort. Situated at an altitude of 1,800m, the resort boasts a remarkably high sunny day rate of approximately 90%, ensuring clear skies for your activities. From the mountain summit rest area, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Northern and Southern Alps, providing a bird's-eye perspective of the surrounding mountain ranges. The terrain features a vertical drop of 450m, with the upper slopes accounting for approximately 300m of that elevation change.
The resort began operations on December 2, 1985. Originally managed by the Nagawa Town Promotion Corporation, a third-sector entity funded by the local town, the management transitioned to Mount Nagawa Co., Ltd. on April 1, 2022. The name "Blanche" carries a beautiful sentiment, symbolizing a white canvas upon which the dreams of the next generation can be painted.
The most spectacular viewpoint is the 360-degree panorama visible from the summit rest area. Under the right conditions, you can see the majestic Northern Alps, Southern Alps, and even Mount Fuji in the distance. Due to the high altitude, the natural environment is characterized by groves of fir and larch trees, with a notable absence of cedar trees. The resort is well-equipped for dedicated skiers, while the lower slopes provide a gentle and safe environment perfectly suited for children and beginners.
The facility primarily operates during the winter season, with the best time to visit being from December to March. Operating hours are 08:30 to 16:00 from Monday to Friday, and 08:00 to 16:30 on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Please be aware that because of the high altitude, temperatures are extremely low and typically remain below freezing throughout the season.
The resort focuses on high-quality skiing experiences. It has long been recognized as a specialized environment for skiers, attracting a diverse crowd including families and senior enthusiasts. Additionally, the facility offers high-performance rental services to ensure visitors have the best possible gear for their mountain adventure.
The resort is conveniently located near major expressways, including the Chuo, Nagano, and Joshin-etsu Expressways. Access via the Okaya Interchange is highly recommended. By utilizing the Shin-Wada Tunnel, most major interchanges can reach the resort within 30 to 60 minutes.
As the resort sits at 1,800m, temperatures are almost always below freezing. It is essential to prepare high-quality thermal clothing and heavy winter gear. If you are driving, it is strongly recommended to use vehicles equipped with winter tires or carry snow chains. Please follow all facility rules and prioritize safety while skiing and snowboarding.
