The most captivating feature of Bense Wetland is the 'transformation of color' that occurs with the seasons. From late May to early June, the scenery unfolds in two distinct stages. First, in late May, the 'Nikko Kisge' (Daylily) blooms in abundance, dyeing the entire wetland in a dazzling, brilliant yellow. Following this, towards early June, the massive colonies of 'Nohana Shobu' (Iris) appear, shifting the landscape from yellow to a striking, deep purple. This exquisite color gradation is a special experience that can only be witnessed during this specific window of time.
The best time to visit is from late May to early June when the flowers are in full bloom. The period when the Nikko Kisuge is at its peak is particularly spectacular, as the landscape glows in golden hues, making it an ideal time for photography.
