The Befco Bakauke Observatory is located on the 31st floor of Toki Messe in Niigata City, at an altitude of approximately 125 meters. Boasting one of the highest vantage points on the Sea of Japan side, its greatest charm is the unobstructed 360-degree panoramic view. From this height, visitors can see the entire Niigata cityscape, the vast Sea of Japan, Sado Island, and even the distant Goshogura mountain range. The name "Befco" is derived from the corporate brand of Kuriyama Kashiya Co., Ltd., a renowned rice cracker manufacturer, embodying the spirit of challenging the possibilities of traditional rice crackers.
Since December 1, 2009, the observatory has carried its current name thanks to the naming rights acquired by Kuriyama Kashiya Co., Ltd. "Befco" stands for "Beika Frontier Company," representing a commitment to providing cutting-edge value and striving to become a category leader. It serves as a symbol of the fusion between local corporate culture and a regional landmark of Niigata.
