Aomi South Pier Park is a maritime park located in Aomi, Koto-ku, Tokyo. It provides a unique seaside space set against the backdrop of the expansive Tokyo Port. The park is characterized by its vast area and its close proximity to the sea, offering a sense of openness rarely found in the urban center.
The park is managed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Port and Harbor, which oversees the management and operation of Tokyo Port. As of July 1, 2020, there was a change in the park's designation. Specifically, due to the installation of a dedicated pier for government vessels in the revetment area (the walkway section), the usage of that specific area was changed from "Park Land" to "Port Facility Land." Consequently, there are certain restrictions on the areas available for general public use.
The park features a wide-open space facing the ocean. It is a location where you can feel the functional rhythm of Tokyo Port while enjoying the serene seaside scenery. Because the revetment area is now classified as port facility land, visitors will find themselves in an environment very close to active daily port operations. This spacious layout allows for a relaxing stay in a coastal setting right within the city.
The park is open 24 hours a day, allowing for visits at any time that suits your schedule. During the day, you can enjoy the bright sunlight reflecting off the water, while at night, the area offers a unique atmosphere with the lights of the port facilities illuminating the landscape. It is a wonderful location to feel the sea breeze regardless of the season.
Visitors can enjoy the refreshing, open-air environment of the seaside. However, please be mindful of the usage restrictions, as the revetment area has undergone a change in designation. It is a place where you can feel the connection between the sea and the port facilities from a very short distance from the urban center.
The park is situated in Tokyo's Bay Area, near popular tourist destinations such as the Odaiba area. Nearby, you will find various port-related facilities and the Tokyo Port management offices.
