Ama no Manai is located in Yoe-cho, Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture, and is officially designated as one of the '100 Best Waters' by the Ministry of the Environment. Nestいで at the foot of the majestic Mount Daisen, the site produces a remarkable 2,500 tons of spring water every single day. This pure water has historically played a vital role in the local community, supporting daily life, agriculture, and even trout farming.
In 1990, the area underwent significant development to enhance its accessibility and aesthetic appeal, resulting in the installation of charming thatched-roof watermills, rest areas (azumaya), well-maintained walking paths, and parking facilities. The result is a harmonious landscape where the clear stream and surrounding greenery create a sense of profound tranquility.
The region has long been sustained by the abundant water resources gifted by Mount Daisen. The spring water is not merely a natural phenomenon but a precious resource deeply integrated into local life. In fact, the water used for Yonago City's municipal supply is drawn from this source 85 meters underground, and it is famously known as 'Yonago Water,' which was selected by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's 'Delicious Water Research Group.' Historically, these abundant springs have served as the very foundation for the local people's livelihoods and industries.

The greatest charm of Ama no Manai lies in the sight of the ceaseless, crystal-clear spring water. As you stroll along the well-maintained paths, you can observe the natural spring and the vibrant greenery up close. The thatched-roof watermills and rest areas serve as iconic architectural accents that define the landscape. If you are lucky, you might even spot trout swimming in the clear waters.
Ama no Manai reveals a different face with every season. The period from May to June is particularly beautiful, as the surrounding greenery becomes exceptionally vibrant and the transparency of the stream is most striking. Additionally, at the nearby 'Kodai-no-oka Park,' you can enjoy the sight of blooming lotus flowers depending on the season. Visiting during daylight hours is recommended to fully appreciate the clarity of the water and the vivid colors of the surrounding flora.
Visitors can enjoy peaceful walks through nature via the established walking paths. These paths allow for a close observation of the natural spring and the surrounding ecosystem. The area also serves as a place to observe the harmony between man-made structures, like the watermills, and the natural environment. Exploring the surrounding area allows you to experience the broader water culture of the region, including nearby spots like 'Hongu no Izumi.'
