The Yasugi Tsukinowa Matsuri is a signature summer event held in Yasugi City, Shimane Prefecture. The highlights are the traditional 'Tsukinowa Shinji' ritual and the stunning fireworks that illuminate the night sky. The area features a lively market (marche) where you can enjoy local food and culture, making it a quintessential Japanese summer experience.
The main draw is the contrast between the solemn, historic Tsukinow ritual and the dynamic, loud fireworks. The event also features multiple stages hosting a variety of performances, ranging from traditional folk music to modern world music. Additionally, the market area offers many stalls where you can taste local delicacies and specialty products, allowing you to feel the local energy firsthand.
The event takes place from August 8 to August 17, 2026. Key programs include:
The event is held around Yasugi Port, Tokami Park, and the area near the Yasugi City Library. Please note that road restrictions will be in place during the event:
Public transportation or walking is highly recommended. If driving, please confirm the location of designated temporary parking in advance.
Preparation is key to enjoying the festival. On the fireworks night, crowds are extremely large, so arrive early to secure a spot. Since music and markets run simultaneously, you can move freely between different areas. Note that there are no trash cans on-site; please take your trash home or return it to the vendor.
Most market stalls and food vendors operate on a cash-only basis. While some may accept credit cards or electronic money, please carry enough cash to ensure smooth transactions.
