This is a seasonal trekking event organized by the Yakushima Tourism Association. Experience the majesty of Mt. Měť´ě•Ľura (1,936m), the highest peak in Kyushu, and the stunning views of Toseki-hira. This program is designed for hikers ranging from beginners to intermediate levels to deeply connect with Yakushima's ancient nature alongside professional guides.
Highlights & Experience
The main attraction is the wild Rhododendrons that bloom only during this specific season. On the Mt. Miyanoura course, you will undertake a serious climb to reach the highest peak in Kyushu. On the Toseki-hira course, you can enjoy a medium-level trek with spectacular views of Mt. Onitake and Mt. Anbuda. Immerse yourself in the seasonal beauty and the artistic forms of nature.
Schedule
The event takes place on June 6th. Please note that meeting times vary depending on your chosen course.
- 04:00: Meet at Yakusugi Nature Museum (Shuttle service available upon request)
- 05:30: Start trekking from Yodogawa Trailhead

Participation Details
This event has a limited capacity and requires pre-registration. The Mt. Miyanura course is limited to 24 people, and the Toseki-hira course to 20 people. The minimum number of participants required is 4. Applications are accepted via Google Forms (through the official website link), FAX, or email. Your registration is complete only after payment confirmation.
Gear, Clothing & Etiquette
- You must bring your own breakfast, lunch, and drinks for the day.
- Please bring essential hiking gear, including rainwear and a headlamp.
- Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for mountain trekking.
- Please contact the organizer separately regarding travel insurance.
- As Rhododendrons are wild plants, blooming is not guaranteed and depends on weather conditions.
