Uenohara Jomon Forest in Kagoshima Prefecture presents the 'Tsukutte Dokidoki Experience,' a special summer program. This is an immersive event where you go beyond just learning about Jomon culture and actually handle the tools and ornaments used by ancient people.
The theme for this 2nd edition is 'Making Jomon Accessories: The Karo Bracelet.' Participants will craft a 'Karo'—a type of accessory worn during the Jomon period—using natural materials such as deer antlers and stones. It is a rare opportunity to experience ancient techniques and culture firsthand while touching the textures of nature.
The highlight of this event is the process of transforming natural materials into a unique piece of jewelry. Rather than just learning facts, you will actually process materials like deer antlers and stones to create your own accessory following ancient methods.
Through this hands-on work, you will truly feel how the Jomon people used their tools and decorations. The finished 'Karo' bracelet will serve as a special, one-of-a-kind souvenir of your journey. Immerse yourself in the breath of the ancient past amidst a beautiful natural setting.

This event is designed for one participant accompanied by one guardian. Capacity is limited to 15 groups and advance registration is required. If there are many applicants, a lottery will be held to determine participants, so please check your status early.
Eligibility: This program is for children in the 3rd grade of elementary school or above. While children take the lead in the crafting process, the program is designed with support for guardians in mind. The environment is set up to help children focus on working with natural materials.
