The Simultaneous Umbrella Dance is the main event of the beloved Tottori Shan Shan Festival in Tottori City. Dancers parade through the streets with colorful umbrellas and the rhythmic chime of bells, creating an iconic summer scene. The 62nd edition promises a breathtaking and immersive atmosphere.
The true highlight is the power and beauty of the 'Simultaneous Umbrella Dance.' The sound of the bells (Shan Shan sound) echoing from the dancers' umbrellas creates a sensory experience of both sight and sound. The sight of colorful umbrellas dancing through the streets is as brilliant as flowers blooming in the night sky. You can do more than just watch; you can participate as a dancer! The promotion association offers 'Shan Shan Umbrellas' for rent. If you wish to join the dance, it is recommended to complete the rental procedure by submitting a required form in advance.
Umbrella rental details:
Rental fees (400 yen/week) must be paid in CASH at the time of umbrella collection. Inquiries regarding invoice payments can be made to the association.
Official English-language support or detailed English guides are not currently provided. We recommend using a smartphone translation app to assist with communication.
If you wish to rent an umbrella, you must submit the application form in advance. The deadline is June 29 (Mon). Applications submitted after this date may not be processed.
As this is a summer night event, please wear breathable clothing to stay cool. Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended for the outdoor setting. If renting an umbrella, please follow all handling rules.
