"Totoro's Forest & Kurosuke's House Guided Tour: Firefly Observation & Night Forest" is a special guided tour set in the natural surroundings of "Kurosuke's House," managed by the Totoro's Hometown Fund. Held approximately once a month, this is a rare opportunity to observe the glowing light of fireflies in the night forest. This tour is part of the fund's conservation efforts to deepen understanding of the rich natural environment.
The greatest charm is observing the beautiful dance of fireflies in the darkness of the night. Accompanied by a guide, you can experience the mystery of nature as the forest shows a different face than during the day. The location is near "Kurosuke's House," a registered Tangible Cultural Property, where you can learn about the Satoyama culture and the efforts to protect nature that evokes the world of Totoro. A mystical experience of silence and light awaits you.
This event is held about once a month on specific dates. Specific dates and times are released periodically on the official website's "Reservation Calendar." As the tour takes place at night, please check the details provided at the time of booking for exact start and end times. The duration is expected to be approximately 1.5 hours, similar to other special guided tours.
The venue is the area surrounding "Kurosuke's House" in Aichi Prefecture. Kurosuke's House is a traditional folk house managed by the Totoro's Hometown Fund as a base for forest conservation. Please note that there is no dedicated parking available at the venue. Please check the "Access" page on the official website in advance.
This tour requires a complete reservation. Participation is limited to a set number of people on a first-come, first-served basis. Once dates are set, please complete the process via the official website's reservation calendar. As this is part of a "Special Opening" program, it differs from standard visits. Preparation is important as it is an experience in a natural environment.
Since you will be walking through the night forest, movement in dark conditions is involved. Please ensure you are prepared for walking in the dark. Payments are cash only. Please note the following:
