Shokoku-ji Zazen Session
7 min di letturaEvent Overview
The Shokoku-ji Zazen Session is a meditation program held at Shokoku-ji (officially known as Mannen-zan Shokoku-sho-ten Zen-ji), one of the most prestigious temples in Kyoto. This program provides an opportunity to center your mind and spirit through Zazen, the fundamental practice of Zen. Just as the Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, Zazen is a traditional method for achieving spiritual awakening.
In the serene environment of the historic Shokoku-ji, you can step away from the bustle of daily life and find stillness. It is a precious opportunity to reflect on your inner self through the teachings of Zen.
Highlights
The session consists of two main parts: Zazen practice and a Dharma talk. First, you will practice seated meditation, focusing on posture and breath in a quiet space. This is followed by a Dharma talk by a monk, where you can learn about Zen teachings and philosophies.
By concentrating on Zazen amidst the solemn atmosphere of Shokoku-ji's historic architecture and gardens, you can release daily stress and find mental peace. The program is designed to be accessible even for beginners.
