The Shiroyama Jizo Festival is a cherished traditional ritual held to honor the Shiroyama Jizo-son, the guardian deity of the castle town. As night falls, countless traditional paper lanterns (chochin) and lanterns (andon) are hung from the eaves of old houses and placed along the streets. The festival is held on August 4, 2026. The main festivities and the most beautiful lighting occur between 20:00 and 22:30. We recommend arriving in the evening to watch the town slowly transition into its illuminated state, which is the highlight of the experience.
