Tsui Konpira Matsuri is a traditional annual event held on December 10th at Yasui Konpiragu, located in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto. This festival marks the final 'Konpira-sama' deity day of the year. It is a significant spiritual milestone to sever the bad connections of the past year and prepare your path for positive relationships in the coming year.
The main highlight is the 'Ineborai,' a sacred charm available only during this period. It is a highly prestigious decoration featuring rice ears, symbolizing abundance and the calling of wealth and blessings. It is a rare opportunity to experience Kyoto's traditions while praying for a bountiful and healthy new year. Additionally, you can visit the famous 'Enkiri-Enmusubi' (Severance and Connection) stone monument to renew your intentions and refresh your spirit.
The main event takes place on December 10th, starting at 10:00 AM. This period is part of a special ritual window that begins with the Tsui Konpira on December 10th and continues through the Hats Konpira festival on January 10th of the following year.
The event is held at Yasui Konpiragu.
Address: 70 Shimobentencho, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto 605-0823
During the Tsui Konpira Matsuri, the 'Ineborai' charms are available at the shrine's reception. As these are highly popular and limited in quantity, we recommend checking availability early. This ritual is a perfect way to conclude your year by clearing negative energy and welcoming a fresh start.
First, offer your prayers at the main shrine (Honden) to express gratitude. Afterward, you may perform the ritual at the 'Enkiri-Enmusubi' stone monument using a 'Katashiro' (paper charm). Katashiro are available on the left side of the monument; please place an offering of at least 100 yen in the collection box before receiving it.
The shrine office handles the distribution of amulets and 'Ineborai' from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Please note that if you require certain charms to be mailed, a specific application process via postcard may be required. Please check the official website for details.
