This is a workshop held at 'Shimantopia,' a comprehensive cultural center in Shimanto City, Kochi Prefecture, where you can experience making seasonal Japanese sweets. In this session, you will try making 'Nerikiri,' a type of beautiful and delicious seasonal sweet. You can create motifs that symbolize the seasons, such as sunflowers, green maple leaves, or cherry blossoms, to deeply learn about Japanese traditional food culture and aesthetics. You can taste one sweet on the spot and take the remaining three home as souvenirs.
The greatest charm of this class is experiencing the process of expressing the changing seasons through 'Wagashi' (Japanese sweets). While learning the techniques of a professional, you can experience the unique texture and colors of Nerikiri and enjoy the joy of shaping your own beautiful sweets. By making seasonal motifs like sunflowers or maple leaves, you will truly feel the richness of Japan's four seasons. This event is ideal for solo participants, as well as families or grandparents and grandchildren, making it a perfect way to enjoy summer vacation or a meaningful communication experience across generations.
This course will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026. There are two sessions available:
