The Mukida Fire Festival is held in Kanemaru, Nakanoto, Ishikawa Prefecture. The site features a unique shrine structure without a main hall, where a sacred Taba tree is enshrined deep within the grounds. The ceremony takes an even more sacred tone within this natural space.
The most striking feature is the final ritual: striking a sickle against the sacred tree. Two approximately 15cm sickles, decorated with Shide (paper streamers) and rice ears, are offered to the deity. A representative then strikes the sacred tree with the sickles. This unique ritual is part of a 'Fuchin-sai' (wind-calming ceremony) intended to appease the wind.
The festival is held annually on August 27th. Before the main ritual, a mat is laid out for the wind-calming ceremony. Please note that the exact start time may vary depending on local conditions and shrine management; it is recommended to check local status on the day.

As this is a sacred ritual, there are generally no fees for viewing. However, if you wish to offer an amulet or donation (Saisen), please bring cash. Credit cards and electronic money are not accepted.
