Matsue Matsuri Dogyoretsu is a cherished traditional event held in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. In the Izumo region, large drums are called 'Do.' This festival is characterized by the sight of massive 'Do' drums (ranging from 1.2 to 1.8 meters in height) mounted on floats, being rhythmically struck as they are paraded through the streets.
The origins of this procession trace back to the 'Sagicho' (Tondo) New Year festivities. The current form of the event evolved around 1915, following the enthronement of Emperor Taisho. It is a significant cultural event designated as a Tangible Folk Cultural Property of Matsue City.
The most striking feature is the sight of the colossal 'Do' drums and the resonant sound they produce. Watching these massive drums wind through the historic streets of Matsio is a unique experience found only in this region. The procession, involving people of all ages, offers a vivid glimpse into the traditional festive spirit of the Izumo region.

There are no designated spectator seats; the most common way to enjoy the event is by watching from the sides of the route. To ensure a smooth experience, it is helpful to identify the route (from Matsue Castle toward Matsue Ohashi and Shiragata Tenmangu) in advance.
