The Tanabata at the Former Tashiro Family Residence is a seasonal event held at the historic Former Tashiro Family Residence in Shizuoka. On July 11 (Sat) and July 12 (Sun), 2026, the site will be decorated with traditional Tanabata ornaments. The venue features a beautiful two-story wooden structure, providing a stunning backdrop for the colorful streamers and decorations. Additionally, the event features the distribution of the special "Former Tashiro Family Residence Card" as part of the Shizuoka Famous Architecture Card Project.
The main attraction is the fusion of historic architecture and the vibrant Tanabata spirit. Visitors can enjoy the visual beauty of countless colorful paper strips (tanzaku) hanging from the ceilings and bamboo decorations around the building. It is a unique opportunity to experience both the architectural value of the residence and the cultural traditions of the Tanabata festival.
