Tadashi Kawamata "KAWAMATA PROJECT DOCUMENT VIDEO 2" is an exhibition project held at the Tsumari Archive Center in Niigata Prefecture. The center has a deep connection with the Interlocal Art Network, led by Tadashi Kawamata since 2009. It serves as an archive and library, utilizing materials from art festivals and local art projects.
In this project, documentary footage of the artist's 'work-in-progress' style will be projected in the gymnasium. Additionally, live production is scheduled to take place in the artist's atelier within the facility, offering a rare opportunity to observe the creative process up close.
The main highlight is experiencing Tadashi Kawamata's creative process through video. The documentary footage projected in the gymnasium allows you to trace the trajectory of how works take shape.
You can also witness live production at the artist's atelier within the Tsumari Archive Center, experiencing the contrast between recorded history and present-day creation. The exhibition is open to the public, allowing you to explore the relationship between art and the local community through both visual media and live observation.
The exhibition is scheduled from July 19, 2026, to August 30, 2026.
