Kanoya Marine Festa is an immersive outdoor event held at the beautiful Takasu and Hamada coasts in Kanoya City, Kagoshima. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Kinkowan Bay, this festival offers a wide range of marine sports and beach activities. Whether you are a seasoned adventurer or a complete beginner, there are plenty of programs designed for everyone, including families and children.
The main attraction is the chance to try professional-grade water sports. You can experience activities that are hard to find elsewhere, such as banana boats, dinghy sailing, ocean kayaking, and windsurfing. For those who prefer staying on the sand, there are lively beach games like the flip-flop tossing contest, beach flag races, and tug-of-war competitions.
In addition to the physical fun, the event promotes environmental awareness through workshops like the "Coastal Collection Craft," using materials found on the shore, and art exhibitions such as the "YOKA-ANBE CANVAS" by professional artists. You can also enjoy delicious food from various food trucks and dedicated BBQ spaces while listening to the soothing sounds of the ocean waves.
The event takes place on July 20th, from 10:00 to 16:00. Please check the on-site staff for specific timing and schedules for each individual program.
The event is held at the Takasu and Hamada coasts in Kanoya City, Kagoshima.
Some marine sports require advance registration. Please pre-register via the official form for the banana boat, dinghy sailing, coastal boat, aquaathlon, tug-of-war, and the coastal collection craft. Other activities are available on a first-come, first-served basis on the day, so we recommend arriving early.
As you will be active near the water, please wear comfortable clothing that is okay to get wet. To prevent heatstroke, ensure you stay hydrated with water and salt, and take frequent breaks in shaded areas.
