The 'Gonenbi Kigan-kai & Goma' is a ritual dedicated to the temple's main deity, the Eleven-faced Kannon. Founded by the monk Gyoki by the decree of Emperor Shomu, the temple grounds feature significant cultural assets, including the main hall, a three-story pagoda, Niomon gate, and bell tower. Rituals are performed for various personal needs, such as relief from misfortune, protection from bad luck, or prayers for vehicle safety.
The heart of this event is the prayer to the Eleven-faced Kannon, a deity with eleven faces that watch in all directions to save all beings from suffering. In addition to prayers in the main hall, the Goma fire ritual is performed. This traditional ceremony uses fire to burn away worldly desires and fulfill spiritual wishes.
