Event Overview

Takasago Mantosai is a special annual festival where the entire city of Takasago, Hyogo, is transformed into a work of light art. Under the concept of "A place where stars descend once a year," candles are lit in the alleys, and buildings and venues are beautifully illuminated. Set around the south side of Sanyo Takasago Station, this event is a deeply atmospheric experience blending light displays, music, and local culture.

Highlights & How to Enjoy

The greatest highlight is the mystical scenery where the town looks like a "carpet of light." Walking through the streets lit by warm alley candles feels like strolling under a starry sky. The collaboration with music is another major draw; at various "Jazz Galleries," soothing music flows through the air, creating a perfect harmony of light and sound. Additionally, with building illuminations, exhibitions, and local markets (Rakuichi) taking place, you can fully immerse yourself in the beautiful Japanese night through both sight and sound.

Venue & Access

The venue covers the entire area south of Sanyo Takasago Station. During the event, various light displays (4 locations) and Jazz Galleries (4 locations) are scattered throughout the area, making the whole town your venue. You can enjoy exploring the different spots by walking from the vicinity of Takasago Station.

Since the event spans the entire town, it is helpful to have a rough route in mind to enjoy the experience smoothly. While the candlelight is incredibly beautiful and perfect for photography, please watch your step when walking through darker alleys. As multiple spots like jazz galleries and exhibitions run simultaneously, we recommend taking your time to discover your favorite music and light displays.

What to Bring & Etiquette
