"Sanuki Takamatsu Matsuri" is a historic, community-driven summer festival that began in 1957. During this time, the center of Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, transforms into a vibrant celebration of the 'So-odori' dance and a massive fireworks display. The highlight, the 'Dondon Takamatsu Fireworks Display,' takes place around the Tamamo Breakwater near Takamatsu Port, featuring about 6,000 fireworks—one of the largest scales in the Shikoku region. This festival brings the entire city together, attracting locals and tourists alike.

The greatest charm of this event is the fusion of traditional dance and modern fireworks. In the 'Kimai-emai' style of So-odori, dancers in striking costumes perform dynamic dances and music along the streets. The sight of large-scale fireworks blooming over the beautiful scenery of Takamatsu Port is truly breathtaking. Areas near the Takamatsu Port Ferry Terminal are popular 'Instagrammable spots' where you can capture the fireworks alongside ships and ferries. Tips for Participation

Preparation is key to a comfortable experience. Since the fireworks start after 20:00, we recommend arriving at the venue by early evening. Areas like Chuo Park and Sunport Takamatsu become very crowded, so securing a spot early is essential. Additionally, August in Takamatsu is very hot, so please take precautions against heatstroke. Buying food and drinks at stalls early is also a smart way to avoid the peak crowds.

• *Clothing**: Expect to stand or walk for long periods. Bring comfortable shoes and heat protection items like hats, parasols, or portable fans.
