The Otsu Shiga Fireworks Display is a traditional summer event held at the scenic Omi Maiko area in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. Approximately 2,000 fireworks are launched from the waters of Lake Biwa, featuring high-impact displays like the 'star mine' technique. Against the backdrop of the beautiful Hira Mountain Range, the vibrant colors reflect off the lake surface, creating a mesmerizing spectacle that captivates all who visit.
The main highlight is the powerful launch over the vast expanse of Lake Biwa. The brilliant star mine displays illuminate both the night sky and the water's surface, transforming the entire area into a dreamlike space. You can enjoy the quintessential Japanese summer atmosphere while relaxing on the beautiful white sands of Omi Maiko. The Omi Maiko area is very accessible, located within walking distance of the station. Because the beach is relatively close to the launch site, you can enjoy a very powerful and close-up view of the fireworks. However, as large crowds are expected, we recommend arriving early and checking your travel route in advance.
