Morioka Hanabi no Saiten is one of the largest fireworks festivals in the Morioka region, held on the banks of the Kitakami River downstream from Tonan Bridge. The event features a breathtaking competition by Japan's top pyrotechnicians, showcasing approximately 10,000 fireworks, including massive shells and intricate choreographed displays. Beyond the fireworks, the festival celebrates local culture with traditional performances such as Sansa Odori, Shishi Odori, and Tonan Taiko drumming, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
The main highlight is the sheer scale of the fireworks illuminating the night sky. Large-scale shells and colorful starmines showcase advanced technical skill, offering a powerful visual experience. The fusion of traditional dance and drumming with the light show provides a deep sense of Japanese cultural heritage. It is a unique moment where music, light, and tradition meet to define summer in Morioka.

The area becomes extremely crowded, so preparation is key. To enjoy the view comfortably, we recommend purchasing paid viewing seats. Reserved and chair seats are sold in advance; securing these early ensures a great view. Please allow extra time for travel as traffic restrictions will be in place.
