Event Overview

The "Matsushima Oyster Festival" is a celebrated local gourmet event in Matsushima, Miyagi Prefecture, dedicated to the region's most iconic winter delicacy: fresh oysters. Held annually on the first Sunday of February, the festival takes place around the Matsushima Kaigan Green Plaza. It is a perfect opportunity to enjoy seasonal oysters prepared in various ways. Additionally, the concurrent "Miyagi Marugoto Horoyoi Matsuri" allows visitors to enjoy a stroll through the town while sipping on premium local sake.

Oyster quantities are limited, and certain varieties may be sold as "heat-and-eat" styles based on safety inspections. We recommend checking the preparation style in advance. Please note that bringing your own portable stoves or outside food/drinks into the venue is strictly prohibited. If you participate in the "Horoyoi Matsuri" (Sake Festival), use the stamp rally to explore and enjoy the local shopping district.
