The Makuhari Beach Fireworks Festa (48th Chiba Citizens' Fireworks Festival) is a beloved summer tradition in Chiba City. The year 2026 is particularly significant as it celebrates the 900th anniversary of the founding of Chiba. Set against the beautiful waterfront of Makuhari, this year's event will feature a massive scale of approximately 24,000 fireworks. The show will blend traditional large-scale shells with cutting-edge creative displays, all synchronized with music for a dynamic experience.

Highlights & How to Enjoy

There are several special programs prepared for this milestone year:

• *900th Anniversary Special Program**: To celebrate this historic milestone, the sky will be filled with 100 large-scale shells (5-sun size or larger) and 900 maritime shells. Special creative fireworks featuring the Chiba clan crest and the number '900' will dance to the music.
• *Spectacular Maritime Fireworks**: Experience the scale of fireworks launched diagonally from the Makiba shore toward Tokyo Bay, reaching up to 150 meters in diameter. The fan-shaped smoke effects provide a stunning visual from all directions.
• *Grand Finale**: A spectacular closing-act sponsored by ZOZO, Inc., featuring 10,000 shells that paint the sea and sky in golden hues with majestic 'Kin-kabu-kiku' (golden chrysanthemum) patterns.
• *Message Fireworks**: A moving segment where artistic 'Shakudama' shells are launched alongside messages of heartfelt emotion.

The event is held on Saturday, August 1, 2026. The fireworks are scheduled to launch from 19:30 to 20:30. Please note that in the event of bad weather or strong winds, a cancellation decision will be made by 9:00 AM on the day of the event.

Venue & Access

The venue is Makuhari Seaside Park (1 Mihama, Mihama-ku, Chiba-shi, Chiba) and its surrounding areas. It is approximately a 15 to 20-minute walk from Kaihimmakuhari Station on the JR Keiyo Line. We highly recommend arriving early as the area is expected to be extremely crowded.

Viewing the event requires advance application or ticket purchases. Please note the following methods:
