Hatamono Jinja Tanabata Festival is a traditional celebration held at Hatamono Jinja in Katano City, Osaka. The shrine's deity is 'Amano Tanabata-hime no Okami,' a name for the Star Goddess (Orihime), making this area a historic site for Tanabata legends. The festival takes place over two days: the Eve (July 6) and the Main Festival (July 7), featuring a magical atmosphere filled with bamboo decorations and lantern light.
The greatest charm is the countless bamboo branches decorated with colorful 'tanzaku' (paper strips). Writing your wishes on these strips and tying them to the bamboo is a quintessential festival experience. As night falls, the lanterns illuminate the decorations, creating a romantic and dreamy scenery. Additionally, many food stalls (yatai) line the shrine grounds, offering classic Japanese festival treats.
The event is held annually on July 6 (Eve) and July 7 (Main Day). In 2027, it is scheduled for July 6.

Public transportation is highly recommended to reach Hatomono Jinja.
During the festival, many food stalls will be present. In the past, up to 80 stalls have operated, offering treats like squid pancakes (ika-yaki), takoyaki, yakisoba, shaved ice, and baby castella, as well as carnival games like target shooting. Popular items may sell out early, so it is best to arrive early.
