Kashima City is known as a 'treasure trove of traditional performing arts,' and this special festival showcases the deep-rooted culture of the region. This event brings together rare traditional performances such as Menbryu (mask dances), Shishi-mai (lion dances), and Kagura (sacred dances) from various local areas. In 2025, the festival is scheduled to coincide with the commemorative celebrations of the Yutoku Inari Shrine reconstruction.
The greatest highlight of this festival is the rare opportunity to witness a diverse collection of performing arts that are usually only seen in their specific local districts. You can experience the artistry of Japanese traditional rhythm and movement up close, including the striking 'Menbryu' mask dances, the powerful movements of the 'Shishi-mai' lion dances, and the elegant 'Yutoku-no-mai' dance. We invite you to immerse yourself in these performances within the sacred and historic grounds of the shrine, where the very spirit of the community comes alive.
The event will be held on October 5, 2025.
The venue is the sacred grounds of Yutoku Inari Shrine. Please note that the venue or program may change due to weather conditions.
