Ibi Matsuri is a traditional festival held in Ibi-gawa Town, Gifu Prefecture, boasting a rich history of over 300 years. Held every May, this significant event symbolizes the local history and culture of the region. The festival is best known for the procession of exquisitely decorated 'Yama' floats and traditional dance performances.
The greatest attraction is the sight of five magnificent 'Yama' floats gathered within the Miwa Shrine grounds; their ornate decorations are truly breathtaking. Another must-see is the 'Kodomo Kabuki' (Child Kabuki) performed on the floats, where local children showcase traditional arts with great emotional depth, captivating audiences of all ages. It is a rare opportunity to feel the vibrant energy of the community alongside the powerful procession of portable shrines.
