The Saichine Jinja Somin Matsuri is a traditional ritual held annually on March 17th at Saichimine Shrine in Hanamaki, Iwate Prefecture. The highlight of this festival is the incredibly energetic "Somin-bukuro battle" that follows the sacred Shinto ceremony. Watching the men unite and clash in a fierce struggle to claim the sacred bag is a breathtaking spectacle of human energy.

The main event is the intense scramble for the Somin-bukuro. Inside the bag are 365 wooden pieces, each marked with a specific zodiac sign. As the men push and compete while descending the shrine path, the scene becomes truly spectacular. The person who successfully holds the bag at the end wins the precious pieces.
