Fukui Phoenix Fireworks is a historic event that marks the grand opening of the Fukui Phoenix Festival, the largest summer celebration in Fukui City. It is famous for its unique style where fireworks are launched directly over the city, allowing spectators to experience the intense power and scale of the display from a very close distance. In 2026, the event will celebrate its 73rd edition.
The greatest charm is the immersive sensation of feeling the fireworks exploding right above the city. The concentrated bursts of light vividly color the night sky. The grand finale is a breathtaking spectacle that captivates the audience, serving as the emotional climax of the entire evening.
The event is scheduled for July 31, 2026 (Friday).
The venue is the Asuwa River bank (between Kida Bridge and Itagaki Bridge). There are three main viewing areas:
Access is approximately a 10-minute walk from the JR Fukui Station East Exit. Please note that traffic restrictions will be in place on surrounding roads (18:30–21:00), and access to the immediate launch area will be prohibited. As parking is expected to be full, we strongly recommend using public transportation or arriving on foot.
Crowd levels and facilities vary by location. The ① Kida Bridge Upstream Right Bank area is typically very crowded and may implement entry restrictions. On the other hand, the ③ Itagaki Bridge Downstream Right Bank area tends to be more relaxed, with food stalls and temporary restrooms available. For a more comfortable viewing experience, we recommend considering area ③.
