Event Overview

The Asakusa Samba Carnival, held in the Asakusa area of Taito, Tokyo, is the largest samba event in Japan. Since its inception in 1981, it has grown into one of the largest samba carnivals outside of Brazil and in the Northern Hemisphere. More than just a parade, it is a highly professional competition where each team presents an "Enredo" (theme), creating music, costumes, and massive floats (Allegoria) to tell a specific story.

The main draw is the authentic Brazilian-style performance. The top-tier S1 League teams parade through the streets with breathtaking scale, wearing elaborate costumes often ordered directly from Brazil and accompanied by massive floats called "Allegoria." Often described as a "moving opera," the synchronization of music, dance, and costume is truly overwhelming. Don't miss the Theme Samba League, where corporate sponsors participate.
