The Aomori Yuki Akari Matsuri is a community-driven winter festival held around the area of Nebuta no Ie Wa Rasse West Plaza. Amidst the crisp, cold air of mid-winter, the gentle glow of snow lanterns creates a mesmerizing atmosphere. The sight of approximately 20,000 snow lanterns creates a breathtaking, dreamlike space where snow and light blend perfectly.
The main attraction is the vast number of snow lanterns illuminating the night. You can enjoy unique Aomori artistry, such as mini Nebuta floats crafted with traditional techniques and collaborations with snow sculptures. Additionally, visitors can participate in the 'WISH Candle' experience, where you can decorate a candle holder with your wishes, making it a wonderful way to create lasting memories with family and friends.
The event is held on February 3.
The venue is the area around the West Plaza of Nebuta no Ie Wa Rasse.
To fully enjoy the beauty of the snow lanterns, we recommend visiting when the light shines brightest in the clear night air. There are many photogenic spots, making it a very popular time for photography enthusiasts. You can also combine your visit with sightseeing at nearby spots like 'Nebuta no Ie Wa Rasse'.
Aomori in winter is extremely cold with heavy snow. Please prepare thoroughly for the freezing temperatures.
