Event Overview

The "American Festival & Bon Odori" is a long-standing open-post event held at the Naval Air Facility Atsugi (Atsugi Base) to promote US-Japan friendship and cultural exchange. Since its first occurrence in 1959, this historic event has been beloved by the community. This is a rare opportunity to step inside a US military base and experience a unique fusion of American atmosphere and traditional Japanese festivities.

Highlights & How to Enjoy

The biggest highlight is the "Bon Odori" dance performed alongside US Navy personnel. You can enjoy high-energy performances from the US Navy Atsugi Bon Odori Dancers and authentic Awa Odori by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force teams. The venue will also feature food booths and trucks serving American-style favorites like pizza, steak, and hamburgers. The night concludes with a breathtaking fireworks display that will bring the event to an exciting and emotional finale.

Venue & Access

The venue is Taylor Field and Yuko Plaza within the Naval Air Facility Atsugi.

*Walking from nearest station**: Approximately 25-minute walk from Sagami-Otsuka Station on the Sotetsu Line.
*By Bus**: Take the Sotetsu Bus bound for "Ebina Station" from the South Exit of Sagami-Otsuka Station, get off at "Hiko-jo Semon-mae," and walk for about 10 minutes.
*Important Notes**: There is no parking or bicycle parking available inside the base. Please use public transportation. Entry by car, motorcycle, or bicycle is strictly prohibited.

Participation Tips

Strict identification is required to enter the base. Anyone aged 16 or older must present a valid government-issued photo ID (such as a passport, driver's license, or residence card). Please prepare your documents in advance to ensure a smooth entry to this unique cultural experience.
