The Daitokuji Korin-in Autumn Special Opening is a special event held at the historic Korin-in temple within the Daitokuji complex in Kyoto. Founded in the 1520s by the Hatakeyama clan of Noto, the temple has deep ties to the Maeda clan, who notably repaired the main hall's roof.
During this period, visitors can view the elegant Hinoki-bark (hiwadabuki) gate and the main hall, a masterpiece of Muromachi-period Zen architecture. A major highlight is the dry landscape garden (karesansui), featuring a bold, Momoyama-style stone arrangement restored by the renowned garden designer Kin-saku Nakane. This is a rare opportunity to experience the harmony of historic architecture and meticulous garden design.
The fusion of historic architecture and landscape is the centerpiece of this event. The main hall, an Important Cultural Property, preserves the solemnity of Muromachi-period Zen style.
