Event Overview

Cultural Heritage Watching is a hands-on learning event where you can experience ancient Japanese techniques. Participants will try their hand at ancient crafts such as making pottery and magatama beads, as well as traditional fire starting. It is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the history and culture of the region.

Highlights

The main attraction is the chance to move beyond textbooks and actually use your hands to master ancient skills. The program includes:

  • *Pottery & Magatama Making**: Shape your own ancient tools and beads by hand.
  • *Open Fire & Fire Starting**: Learn the art of managing fire and ancient lifestyles.
  • *Archive Room Tour**: View authentic pottery and stone tools to understand local history.

This immersive program engages all your senses to learn through direct experience.

Schedule

This event is held over two specific days. Participation in both days is required:

  • *Day 1**: 14:00–16:00 (Pottery and Magatama making)
  • *Day 2**: 09:00–12:00 (Open fire and Archive tour)

Venue & Access

Please note that the venue differs for each day:

  • *Day 1**: Rinacity Kanoya, Arts & Culture Learning Plaza, 2F Atelier
  • *Day 2**: Meet at the Cultural Center parking lot, then travel by bus to Otsukayama Park

Participation Details

This educational program is designed for students (3rd grade elementary to 3rd grade junior high). Capacity is limited to 20 people, and a lottery may be held if applications exceed the limit. Pre-registration via the official form is required. As activities involve fire and outdoor work, preparation is essential.

Clothing & Essentials

To ensure a safe and comfortable experience, please follow these guidelines:

  • *Clothing**: Wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty due to outdoor work.
  • *Footwear**: For safety around fire, you must wear sneakers instead of sandals.
  • *Hydration**: Please bring your own water to prevent heatstroke during outdoor activities.
